Cinnamon for Growth

Last wash day i added some cinnamon into my tea for a tea rinse. I had read some time back about cinnamon and some of its benefits in hair treatment. Cinnamon is the dried inner bark of the evergreen Cassia  plant and has a number of natural properties that can be used in hair treatment.

The most common benefits of cinnamon are helping with treating baldness and preventing hair loss and breakage. Cinnamon is highly anti-inflammatory which aids in the stimulation of  the scalp and increase blood circulation. This can aid in promoting hair growth. Hair that is naturally dry or coarse will benefit most in its use to prevent breakage, while those with thin hair will benefit most for its use to promote hair growth. Cinnamon is also good for treating scalp infections. Just make sure to consult your doctor first.

Cinnamon can also be used as a natural alternative to lighten your hair. If your hair is lighter than black, you may notice it to be lightener but some may notice more of a color change or only see a change in sunlight.

Cinnamon has best results when it is used consistently over time. So, FYI if your looking for a one-time quick fix thing you are going to be disappointed...this is not it!

Cinnamon oil can also be used. Just a few NTK's...cinnamon oil in particular can cause the scalp to tingle and may not be appropriate for children or people with sensitive scalps.

All in all my thoughts on cinnamon now that i have researched it in full is that...i will probably add Cinnamon to my tea during tea rinses. The idea that it can aid in the promoting of hair growth is ideal for Mi Mi's hair right now. So we'll see.

Here is a DIY recipe for a cinnamon mask:

Mix two tablespoons of cinnamon and honey into a half cup of warm olive oil. Add one egg to thicken the mask. Apply the mixture to the scalp w/ a applicator brush. Comb the solution through wet hair and set for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash out. Shampoo your hair and condition it as usual. Apply the past once each week as a  hair treatment to promote hair growth and stop hair loss.

If you would like to use/ make cinnamon oil...Here is a great DIY recipe from
