Ombre` Hair

Mi Mi has been wanting to ombre` her hair for some time now ever since the style has became popular and i'v final have allowed her to do it.
The other day while in the store Mi Mi found a L`OREAL Feria INTENSE OMBRE` kit. Needless to say I purchased it and so here we are.

We started by following the directions on the box. In a nutshell; mix the developing cream, bleach and lighting creme in the applicator bottle, section hair from bottom up, then using the expert brush to apply mix onto hair. Then as instructed i let her hair process for a minimum of 25 minutes. After rinseing throughly i shampooed with the directed conditioning shampoo. i then conditioned w/TRESemme` KERATIN SMOOTH  CONDITIONER letting it sit on her hair for about 15 minutes. As I told Mi Mi whenever lifting hair you always want to put as much moisture and strength back into your hair.
i then rinse her hair thoroughly; then wrapped it with a cotton t-shirt to remove the excess water. i then did a deep condition w/ Silicon Mix sitting Mi Mi under the drier for 30 minutes.

After that i rinsed her hair w/ a coffee rinse to help with shedding and then locked cuticle with a cool water rinse. To finish up i used a cotton t-shirt again to dry her hair.

For the styling phase, i started by applying MOTIONS Triple Action Leave-in Conditioner and Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion to her entire head. I also added some Pompeian oil and PALMER'S OLIVE OIL FORMULA GRO THERAPY just to her ends. I then sprayed Silk Elements Olive Heat Protection Spay to her hair to prepare for blow drying. I then blow dried her hair on a warm setting using a paddle brush.
Once her hair was completely dry i added a touch more Pompeian oil. Mi Mi and i then deiced to spiral curl her hair for the style. i sprayed Cantu Shea Butter Flat Iron Spray  to her hair to protect while curling. i started at the nape and moved from ear to ear to the front of her head.

The curls came out nice a tight which was good for the final style Mi Mi wanted to create.

Overall Mi Mi loved the new ombre` color and the style.

Lay Lay's Wash Day

Last night i also did Lay Lay's hair. Lay Lay is not so fond of wash days; so i need to make this a quick one. Continue reading to find out what i did.

Wash and Prep

[1] Applied a conditioner and water mixture to detangle her hair. Sectioning off detangled hair in large twist.
[2] Shampoo each section at a time w/  Neutral Foam White tea & ginger Shampoo
[3] Rinsed each section w/ warm water.
[3] Using a cotton t-shirt removed excess water

[4] Applied MOTIONS Triple Action Leave-in Conditionerawapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL, and some
EVCO to hair shaft and combed through w/ wide tooth comb.

Now her hair was ready for styling. Next time i am going to try and expand her wash day.

Style

While her hair was damp, i parted and sections to create ponytails. On each section i applied some Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion and some ARGAN OIL ECO Styler Gel at base brushing it through w/ a bristle brush. Then using rubber bands i secured each section. After the section was secure i split each ponytail in two and twisted the sections separately, creating a ponytail w/ two twist. At the ends of each twist i secured it w/ a colored barrettes.
Once her entire head was completed i applied some Pompeian oil to the parts.

Overall Lay Lay loved her ponytails.

Two-Strand Twist

For this style Mi Mi and i got into a little color. Instead of the normal black (1B) i used 1B/30. At the start i kinda second guess the color for Mi Mi but she said she liked the color, so we went w/ it.

To prepare for this style i started w/ freshly washed hair. After her hair was cleansed i sprayed some Silk Elements Olive Heat Protection Spay on her entire head and blow dried it on a cool setting using a paddle brush. Once her hair was completely dried i applied some Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion  and EVCO  on her hair. I then sectioned and a began creating the twist using the braid-in method. Through out each twist i applied ARGAN OIL ECO Styler Gel as needed to each twist to lay down any fly a ways. For the ends i used the hot water method and perm rods.

The entire style took me about 3 hours. I used 3 1/2 packs.
Overall i was pleased w/ the style. The color actually looked good on her. And Mi Mi really likes it. We may just use this color again.

Side Mohawk "Crochet"

Its that time again...Back to School. I am a few days behind on my post dates, but school started on Sept. 2.

This year for Mi Mi's back to school hair style i was inspired by a YouTuber i recently began following by the name of "Teeday6". She does these amazing crochet braids that no one would ever know were crochets.

To achieve the style i followed step by step Teeday6's YouTube video. I used the same brand of hair shown in the video for the crochets. The only difference is i used colors 1B/30 and 1B.

Mi Mi really loves this style. And i think that crochet braid just might be back in action! LOL!

If you would like to check out Teeday6...here are her YouTube Channel and Facebook Page links.

Braid Out

Mi Mi went to the beach for 4th of July.
Beach means water...water means wet hair...and that means...oh boy!
So since i have Mi Mi hair under total restoration... on Saturday when she got back i gave her hair some extra love & care.
I stared by rinsing her hair thoroughly. After the beach on Friday i had Mi Mi wash her hair and put some conditioner and let set the remainder of the day.
After the rinse i deep condition w/ Silicon Mix applying then combing through and set her under the drawer for 20 minutes. I then rinsed again sealed w/ cool water then dried w/ a cotton t-shirt.

Next I applied some MOTIONS Triple Action Leave-in Conditioner and a dime size amount of awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL . I then sprayed some setting lotion over her entire head. After that I parted about 2 inches for cornrows. I covered her hair w/ a netted du-rag to air dry.

This morning...

Mi Mi took out the cornrows and applied a small amount of Pompeian oil. I then fluffed, defined the part and gel down her edges w/ ARGAN OIL ECO Styler Gel.

 And there you go...braid out!

i think this is the best braid out thus far.

Roller Set on Diva Friend

Last night i did a roller set on a Lovn' My Hair friend. Our Diva Friend is currently in the process of reconstructing her hair. She has some damage to her strands and wants to use better hair practices to get her hair back to a more healthier state.
So she (her mom really) decided to do a roller set.

i started w/ freshly washed hair. After detangling, i applied MOTIONS Foaming Wrap Lotion over her entire head as well as some FANTASIA LIQUID MOUSSE Hair Setting Lotion. Once i combed the product through i began parting and sectioning to place the rollers. i used the larger ones on top...to give more volume...and the smaller on bottom.
Our friend then sat under the hooded drawer.

After about an hour and a half... i removed all the rollers. Diva then sprayed her hair w/ BB Smooth Sheen Olive Oil and wrapped her hair up for the night.

Touch Up

It has been 6 weeks since Mi Mi's relaxer. By the looks of her hair you would of thought it was longer. So I decide to go ahead and do a touch up.

I started this touch up by first basing her scalp w/ Organic Root Olive Oil Scalp Protector. i also pre-pooed w/ my oil mixture of EVOO & EVCO on her hair shaft and ends.
i used the MIZANI RHELAXER again this time. (this might be our staple relaxer). After i applied and rinsed out the relaxer, i applied some OPTIMUM AMLA CONDITIONER. This conditioner was left over from a relaxer i did last weekend. The conditioner impressed me right away; i though i would use the rest on Mi Mi's hair. it was moisturizing, left the hair very soft and added shine to the hair. (i must fine this conditioner!)

~Anyway~

i left the conditioner on her hair for an hour; then shampooed w/ neutralizing shampoo 3x's. After her hair was completely cleared of all product i applied a DIY conditioner. The conditioner was 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1 banana, and 1 TBS of ACV. i mixed all ingredients in a bowl (i should of used a blender); then applied it to her hair. Using a wide tooth comb, i combed the conditioner through. i let it sit on her hair for about 10 minutes then rinsed it out.

After her hair was clear of all banana pieces LOL! i squeezed any excess water out w/ a cotton t-shirt. i then did a final rinse w/ a tea and cold water to seal the cuticles.
To finish up, i applied some MOTIONS Triple Action Leave-in Conditioner and repairing awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL  and combed it through. Last, i poured some coconut water onto her hair and wrapped her hair in a bun to let air dry.

The next day...

i applied a quarter size amount of OPTIMUM AMLA LEGEND OIL MOISTURIZER and repairing awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL to Mi Mi's hair and ends. i then sprayed Silk Elements Olive Heat Protection Spay over her entire head. Taking small sections a flat ironed her hair bumping it slightly at the ends.

Overall, i am very impressed with this touch up. Mi Mi's hair has shine, its smooth and soft.

Quick Flat Iron Style

Here is a quick style i did on Mi Mi's hair this weekend.

FYI: Mi Mi is about 6 weeks post relaxer and coming up on a wash day.

i really like this shirt on her! She those glasses! (ha ha!)

The Love of Wash Days

This wash day was just simple. Cleanse, condition & protective style.

I started with a cleanse by shampooing Mi Mi's hair with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. Repeating twice to   insure her scalp was clear of all residue. Then i used a cotton t-shirt to remove the excess water. Once her hair was no longer dripping with water i then applied BIOTERA Reconstructing Conditioner to her hair. Using a wide tooth comb i combed the conditioner through then placed a plastic bag over her hair to let it deep conditioner her hair.

About 45 minutes later i washed out the conditioner. once again using the t-shirt i wrapped the shirt to remove the excess water. Then i applied MOTIONS Triple Action Leave-in Conditioner and awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL to her entire head. Adding a little more oil to her edges and her ends.

Now the protective style.

Mi Mi decided she wanted a twist out...so that's what we did!

The twist stayed in Mi Mi's hair
for the entire next day.
After her hair was detangled i then sectioned her hair from front to (as if doing cornrows straight back) Each section was about 1/2 inch in thickness. I began two-stand flat twisting each section straight back. At the end of each section i created a bantu knot. I then placed some of my oil mix on the parts of each section. Mi Mi then wrapped her hair w/ a netted du-rag and let her hair air dry.
nape starting at her right ear.

Style morning...

Using a small amount f oil Mi Mi untwisted each section. Once all sections were untwisted, using her fingers she "fluff" her hair into shape. She then added a tiny amount of oil to her hairline and put on a white headband.

I loved the shape. It looks really cute on her. She likes it too!

Twist out are great for relaxed hair too! :)

...New Hair

...and so it begins

i started by making sure Mi Mi's hair was detangled as much as i could w/o adding stress to her scalp. Once her hair was manageable i began my pre-poo with the Natty HAIR FOOD applying it to her scalp and her new growth. I also applied some vaseline around her hairline and in areas that i know usually are prone to burn. i left the pre-poo on for about 25 minutes.

i then parted her hair into four section to make it easier to see and work with the hair and new growth. Once sectioned i started applying the relaxer in the crown center area of her head working toward her hairline. i apply the relaxer this way to insure that the new growth will have enough time to process seeing that that is where most of the new growth lies. After the relaxer was applied and processed it was time to rinse out.

i rinsed the relaxer completely out using cool water. Once there was no trace of relaxer i gently squeezed out any excess water and applied a deep conditioner. I deep conditioned with the Deep Conditioning Hair Mask i used in Mi Mi's last wash day adding my mixture of EVOO and EVCO over the mask.

After the conditioner was rinsed out i then moved on to the neutralizing step. I shampooed her hair 3 times then rinsed thoroughly. Then, i conditioned with BIOTERA Reconstructing Conditioner for 30 minutes.

Next i did a tea rinse of black, green and peppermint tea. Boy did it smell good. i then rapped her hair in a cotton t-shirt to remove the excess water. Next i applied MOTIONS Triple Action Leave-in Conditioner and a bit of oil evenly to her hair. i then applied ISOPLUS WRAP Lotion and wrapped her hair and let it air dry over night.

The next day, i applied a small amount of repairing awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL and unwrapped her hair. I then applied Cantu Shea Butter Flat Iron Spray and Silk Elements Olive Heat Protection Spay and used my Original CHI IRON to flat iron Mi Mi's hair into a simple style.

Her hair was soft and well moisturized not of mention it had a nice shine. I am very pleased with the results.

Here is Mi Mi's new hair...

K'leyah's B-Day Style

For K'leyahs' birthday this weekend she wanted a simple cornrow style.
So i created this cute stylish look.

This style was created on detangled stretched hair. It is a simple cornrow style braided with THE SUPERLINE COLLECTION Silky Jumbo Braid Kanekalon hair.

i used gel when needed to blend the braiding hair with K'leyah's hair. The braids are braided to one side to create a stylish look. To finish the look off i applied a hair grease to her scalp to maintain moisture and shine. For the ends, the braids were braided all together then dipped into hot water; giving off a crimped look.

K'leyah likes her new style.

Mommy's Twist Out

This twist style is a very simple versatile style. Its an easy go to style for many occasions. I decided to create this style for two reasons. 1. being i am about 9 weeks post relaxer and this was a great style to hide new growth. And 2. it was just simple. There will be minimal manipulation and easy to maintain.

To create this style i started with freshly washing and conditioned hair. After that i moisturized using and some EVCO. It is important to moisturize so that your twist will have shine when they are complete.
Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizing Lotion
While my hair was damp i applied a setting foam to my entire head.  i then began by parting my hair from front to nape in about 2 inch sections. Starting with one section at a time, i created a two-strand flat twist. At the end of each twist i wrapped the ends into a Bantu Knot. Once my entire head was twisted i added just a little bit more of  EVCO and put on my scarf. *( i did not sit under the drawer. I just air dried over night.)

The next morning, i untwisted each twist by slightly pulling strand of hair apart. Once all twist were out i fluff my hair with my fingers. i the applied some Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Edge Control on my edges around my hairline, put on a scarf as an accessory. That's it!

Auntie Kenya's Rope Twist

Auntie Kenya really liked Mi Mi's Rope Twist that she just had to get them.

Auntie Kenya's Rope Twist was created on freshly washed and conditioned hair. i used 2 packs of number 4 Gina Collection 100% Kanekalon Jumbo Braid hair.
To blend the braiding hair in with her hair i applied MURRAY'S LOC-LOCK GEL to the base of each twist.
i started the twist using the braid-in-method but, once i did a few twist i decided that i didn't really care for this method and began doing the invisible root method instead. To me this method looks more natural and the knot or braiding hair isn't showing.

Each twist base was about an 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The length came to her mid back. i applied some EVOO to her scalp and hair for shine and moisture.

For the ends, i used 1/4 inch perm rods dipped into hot water to create the curls.

Auntie Kenya's Rope Twist

Auntie Kenya really likes her new twist!
