Mommy's Poetic Justice Braids

Just as Mi Mi i also have been wanting some braids in my hair. What better time to do it after Winter Break; one less thing to do getting back into the swing of a routine.

To create these braids i used the exact same product as Mi Mi's twist:

Pre-Poo Pompeian oil (under drier for 15 minutes)
Shampoo TRESemme` KERATIN SMOOTH  SHAMPOO
Deep Conditioner TRESemme` KERATIN SMOOTH  CONDITIONER&
        (under dryer for 20 minutes)
Silk Elements Olive Heat Protection Spay To protect hair as a blow dried
awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL Applied after hair was blow dried
Urban Beauty Super-Silky Jumbo Braid Hair (i used 7 packs)
ARGAN OIL ECO Styler Gel To lay down fly-a-ways as braiding and smooth edges
Pompeian oil Applied to scalp after braids where completed
Total time to braid: 6 hours

Side Mohawk "Crochet"

Its that time again...Back to School. I am a few days behind on my post dates, but school started on Sept. 2.

This year for Mi Mi's back to school hair style i was inspired by a YouTuber i recently began following by the name of "Teeday6". She does these amazing crochet braids that no one would ever know were crochets.

To achieve the style i followed step by step Teeday6's YouTube video. I used the same brand of hair shown in the video for the crochets. The only difference is i used colors 1B/30 and 1B.

Mi Mi really loves this style. And i think that crochet braid just might be back in action! LOL!

If you would like to check out Teeday6...here are her YouTube Channel and Facebook Page links.

The Love of a Wash Day

Last night Mi Mi and i deiced it was time to take out her twist. They had been in for roughly two weeks and had served it purpose of giving her a protective style.

After taking down the twist i did a very quick wash...

[1] I started w/ a quick pre-poo of EVCO and Pompeian oil and 3 Minute Miracle . [2] Then Mi Mi rinses her hair with warm water for about 5 minutes. [3] i then applied Herbal Essences Hello Hydration using an applicator bottle directly to her scalp. [4] i applied Organix biotin & collagen to her hair shaft and ends and let set for about 5 minutes. [5] i rinsed her hair thoroughly [6] used a cotton t-shirt to removed any excess water from her hair [7] i applied MOTIONSTriple Action Leave-in Conditioner w/ awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL and a dime size of ARGAN OIL [8] i then Bantu knotted Mi Mi's entire head [9] applied oil on partings [10] wrapped her hair w/ netted Du-rag & a satin bonnet

This morning...

i took down the Bantu knots. i applied a small amount of awapuhi ginger PENETRATING OIL on my finger tips. Using my fingers i untwisted each knot letting it drop loosely. I then gently pull apart each knot to create a more full effect. Lightly fluffing hair into shape.

To finish off the style I used ECO Styler Gel on her edges. MI Mi added a headband as an accessory.

Twist

Here are the twists i created on Mi Mi's hair after her last wash day. i deiced that due to recent notice of a significant amount of breakage that i was going to do a protective style. Mi Mi has been asking me to twist her hair with extension so, i thought this would be a prefect time.

These twist were created w/ the same Amour New Malibu Kinky Marley Braid hair that i used when i did my Marley Twist. To create the twist i started w/ a 1 to 2 inch parting. i used the braid-in and two stand methods. I only used ECO Styler Gel to smooth her edges and hair while twisting. Other than that i think her hair already had what was needed.

Overall Mi Mi and i were pleased w/ the outcome of the twist.
